Jatra pala

What was the last live performance you saw?

I saw a live jatra pala, which has a century old history as a mode of entertainment. At present this can be seen mainly in rural or semi rural areas. I saw the last live performance one and half months ago in Kalyanpur village, near Nandakumar, East Midnapore, West Bengal, India.

  1. It is so interesting that the play is mostly in rural areas. I wonder why this is so? I wish I could see this drama unfold, too (and that I could understand the language) 🌷.

    1. The only reason is there are only very few entertainment options available in rural areas, jatra pala is one of them. In urban areas you have to choose between the entertainment options, and the film star lives in metro cities.

  2. Oh ok, thank you. I think the rural must be very beautiful in its way, and the cities, in there’s. 🌱
