What is your favorite restaurant?

Kaustav Ghosh

There is no such favourite restaurant as such, but the favourite dishes have been changed from time to time. So better I share the last ten years of mine here.

It is 2014, my law school days. At that time I was thinking one day will come when I will take the charge of groceries in my household. I will take my near and dear ones to nice restaurants for having some fine lunch or dinner.

By the way, I should mention that from my childhood I used to save my pocket money for at least one day’s dinner while pandel hopping in durgapuja. Be it for an egg roll or choco bar. When I was a child or teenager we didn’t have so many street food options. The Internet was as costly as mobile phones and calling. The restaurant business or street food business was not getting a boom. At that time Roll was the king along with chowmin, fuchka and jhalmuri. Apart from this, alu kabli is one of my best street food till date from teenagers. Jhalmuri came later in my life, from 2013.

In the year 2014 I was shifted from 3G feature phone to an Android kitkat supported phone. Before entering my professional life, enjoying street food usually means waiting for Durga Puja. I never considered alu chap, beguni, potato chips as a street food.

It was a deal with my grandmother, she used to give me three Indian rupees for bringing 3 alu chap- one for her and two for myself.

From 2016 my street food habit gradually changed. It started with wow momo and then various street food delicacies in court areas.

Introduction of Zomato and swiggy app changes the course of the game and made me foodie. Initially I tried various restaurant in Howrah-

Archit Tandoor house for various Chinese options. Brindas restaurant for various roll option. Jharna cabin is for various fried option. Beside Brindas there is a soda parlour for various soft drink option.

From 2017 onwards “The Park Terrace” and the “Noxx” was my favourite destination for fine dining. I had eaten lung fung soup in many restaurant but for me “Noxx” made it better than any other place.

Apart from KFC, Kolkata fried chicken and Fried chicken wala near kazipara Howrah make best fried chicken.

If I have to choose the barbeque option then I found the barbeque nation better than absolute barbeque though the Ruby outlet of absolute barbecue is one of the best. I have not tried other barbeque buffet options elsewhere.

For biriyani I loved dum Safar biriyani, behrouz in Howrah and for kebab hazi Malang restaurant and obviously barbeque nation.

Dayal south Indian corner is one of the best in south Indian dish.

Thanks to my dear friend Sarbartha for his treat, I really liked chicken wrapped with prawn from wow China, avani mall in the year 2021 at the time of Durga Puja.

I also liked that fish sizzler option while I went to dining with my nephew Akash in avani mall food court.

This is it. I tried to cover every aspect limited to my locality howrah.

Last but not the least I would like to recommend Big bong’s theory restaurant for Bengali dishes in Howrah and yes it is not a paid post. I am just sharing my experience with you.
